INTJ Personality Type

Hallmark Characteristics: Independent, Reflective, Theoretical, Skeptical, and Demanding

Leadership Style: Bases authority on competency, not assigned titles or length of tenure. Passionate, independent and resourceful, INTJs drive themselves and others to respond to goals and objectives. They are naturally theoretical and thrive on conceptualizing and reorganizing the status quo.

Conflict Resolution: Enjoy lively debates that cut to the core of a situation. While not uncomfortable with conflict and aggressive debate, INTJs prefer a calm quiet environment and tend to avoid conflict unless they view it as a necessary means of achieving a goal they value.

Communication Style: Intensively introspective and probing, INTJs communicate only elements deemed essential. They often speak non-sequentially in compound sentences using a sophisticated vocabulary and persuade through clear-thinking logic and debate. When communicating with INTJs, be direct and succinct, communicate measurable objectives, and focus on results. Allow time for them to processes information before responding. They are persuaded by possibilities that challenge the status quo.

As Entrepreneurs: Create organizations that tend to be independent, innovative and iconoclastic. INTJs see opportunities where others do not, emphasize purpose and vision, and are proficient at spotting emerging trends. INTJs need to augment their natural abilities with others who concentrate on concrete details of day-to-day operations.

Career Satisfaction: In order for work to be meaningful for INTJs, it must make use of their ability to envision inner meanings, implications, possibilities, and form their visions into reality. While successful people of all types are found in all occupations, some careers popular with INTJs include: Economist, Financial Planner, Scientist, Engineer, Management Consultant, Strategic Planner, Architect, Writer, Neurologist, and Lawyer.
