ESTJ Personality Type

Hallmark Characteristics: Direct, Strong-Minded, Structured, Practical, and Attentive to Detail

Leadership Style: Energetic, outgoing, and forceful, ESTJs are traditional, highly disciplined, and task oriented. They align strongly with camaraderie, focus on standard operating procedure and maintain the status quo.

Conflict Resolution: ESTJs tend to be confrontational when rules or boundaries are violated. During conflict they rely on past experience to guide them and strive to reach closure and resolution.

Communication Style: ESTJs readily express their opinions and converse with decisiveness and authority. They like brevity and succinctness and typically do not engage in small talk. They speak of practical aspects, of reaching deadlines and accomplishing goals. ESTJs persuade others by using tangible facts, which are presented in an orderly, logical manner. This is also how they are persuaded.

As Entrepreneurs: ESTJs maintain a high standard for maximum efficiency and place a great deal of emphasis on effectiveness and the bottom-line. They are conventional, respect experience, and encourage employees to live up to expectations. Their strong sense of the traditional and practical means they must seek out others to help them adapt to changing trends.

Career Satisfaction: ESTJs derive career satisfaction from working on concrete and straightforward assignments with clear specifications and definite results. While successful people of all types are found in all occupations, some careers popular with ESTJs include: Administrator, General Contractor, Judge, Stockbroker, Chief Information Officer, Purchasing Agent, Industrial Engineer, Pharmacist, Banker, and Financial Consultant.
