ESFJ Personality Type

Hallmark Characteristics: Cordial, Dependable, Conscientious, Dedicated, and Caring

Leadership Style: Formal yet sociable and outgoing, ESFJs have outstanding organizational skills, welcome responsibility, and nourish and care for the well-being of others. They revere hierarchy, provide clear, well-defined guidelines and instructions, ensure everyone is kept well-informed, and expect a high degree of loyalty.

Conflict Resolution: ESFJs possess a genuine warm concern for others, foster respect and admiration for the beliefs of others, and use their highly developed interpersonal skills to encourage supportive and compassionate environments. In conflict situations, they are tactful and strive not to offend others or create additional conflict.

Communication Style: Naturally affirming and supportive, ESFJs are friendly and highly interactive. They speak with energy and pay close attention to others' needs. Traditionalists who give importance to socially acceptable behaviors, they present ideas in concrete, specific terms in an orderly fashion, and help maintain harmony and consensus. ESFJs persuade by relating personal experiences that stress real-world, practical applications. They are persuaded by tangible solutions and outcomes that have succeeded in the past.

As Entrepreneurs: Naturally outgoing and cooperative, ESFJs work hard to personalize the business process in the organizations they develop. They focus on structure and stability, follow through on commitments, pride themselves on being accountable, and rely heavily on past experience for direction. They are proficient at orchestrating resources, respect channels of communication, seek to minimize risks, and are comfortable dealing with present realities. EFSJs need to augment their natural abilities by working with others who are comfortable with change and with flexible methods of doing things.

Career Satisfaction: Personable and highly committed, ESFJs bring appropriateness and graciousness to whatever task they undertake. In order for work to be meaningful to them, it must allow them the opportunity to establish and maintain genuine relationships with others while focusing on structured, tangible results. While successful people of all types are found in all occupations, some careers popular with ISTJs include: Customer Service Representative, Professional Fund-Raiser, Marketing Executive, Home Health Care Salesman, Flight Attendant, Pharmacist, Nurse, Athletic Coach, Special Education Teacher, and Family Physician.
