There appears to be no direct correlation between the extraversion (E) / introversion (I) preference dichotomy with regard to problem solving and decision making process.

I would suggest there is a difference in the quality of introverted and extraverted problem solving and decision making. The extraverted process will always be quicker than that of the introvert. This stems from the magnetism between the extravert and the object - he is drawn in to the object, assimilates himself to the interaction which is immediate. The introvert holds himself back from the object and waits to see how the object fits his subjective scale of values. There will always be a delay therefore in judging and in the decision making process for the introvert. This has major consequences for a world that is dominated by extraverts and the extraverted style of instant judgement and decision making. Motions can be carried at meetings before even the Jugding Introverts have had time to contribute.
